A serial retailer with a passion for detail, Nigel Oddy was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of American Golf in 2023. Nigel is one of the biggest names in the industry having led some of the UK’s largest and well-known retailers including, House of Fraser, New Look, Matalan and The Range. Nigel’s career started straight from school, on the shop floor, running the children’s sock counter at Marks and Spencer. With his insightful nature and ambition, he progressed from shop assistant to Executive at M&S. 5 subsequent CEO appointments provided a breadth of global experience which encompassed strategy, transformation and crisis management across family owned and PE environments. Nigel has successfully run a diverse portfolio of businesses, leading re-finance programs, identifying long-term demand, transition, and profitability, whilst providing clear executive leadership and sustainable sales growth. Nigel really believes that ‘Retail is detail’ and his ethos has been reflected in his recent nominations for ‘Executive Leader of the Year’ with both People in Retail Awards and Drapers Awards.
